Hey! I know, this is my 3rd entry of the day. I'm on a total roll! I feel like I have a gazillion things to say, except that I really don't... So I blog. Haha. Anyway, here's (another) haul!

Lynn and I went shopping after Viccal's Thank You Party. I was looking for Holika Holika Peach Cream BB Cream SPF37 PA++ but gahhh!!! It's out of stock! I have been trying to look for it online but to no avail. SAD FACE. I guess I could join a spree but that would mean waiting and I don't like waiting... :\

Anyway, I decided to look at other B.B. creams and the Holika Holika's Petit BBs SPF30 PA++ caught my eye because of well, their sizes. I prefer smaller products because it means that I'm able to actually finish them and either repurchase them or move on to others.

I got the Moisture and Essential ones. Each costs $14.50 but Holika Holika is having a sale. If you buy 2 items, there's a 20% discount. If you buy 3, it's 30%. I have started using the former and I love it!

The shade fits me fine and it isn't runny. It has a very pleasant scent and it kinda dries to a powdery, matte finish. BUT at the same time, I get the dewy look! I know it sounds contradictory but I do urge you to head over to the store and swatch it!

Out of the 4 Petit BBs that were available, this felt and looked the best! The Moisture one is actually meant for dry skin and I have combination/ oily skin. But it didn't pose any problems for me at all. I did dust Maybelline's Dream Matte Powder over it though. But do go check this B.B. cream out! :D

Next on the list are Canmake's Powder Cheeks blushers! I mentioned before that Lynn got me into the Asian makeup phase, so on Monday (I know, my buys aren't in chronological order. I'm sorry!), I made a trip to Watsons and I probably went in and out 6 times, making swatches, looking at them in fluorescent and natural lights... Trying to pick the shades! *hides face*

Anyway, Watsons is having a 20% discount on most brands! :DDD

This shade is PW18. Admittedly, I was looking for a peachier shade but this.... After I swatched it, I was like "Okay. I NEED this!". Heh. *in a meek voice* There was a discount... Heh.

This pretty peach shade is PW25. Hmm... It actually reminds me of NARS' Gina... Or is it Gilda? Oh gosh. My thoughts are seriously all over the place. Hmm... I will check it tomorrow!

PW18 has discrete shimmers, whereas PW25 has obvious silver glitters. But they don't 'appear' on the cheeks. The blushers are pigmented and last the entire day. I'm definitely going to look at their other shades (There was one shade which resembled NARS' Orgasm!) and other blushers (I heard the cream ones are awesome!)! XD

I picked up these The Face Shop's Nail Dot Pens on Saturday, after Sunsilk's Product Launch. Again, I was with Lynn. LOL. Okay, she showed them to me and I went to Wisma to get them.

And yes, again, The Face Shop is having discounts. I got these 2 for under 10. :D

I had a lot of trouble trying to get the caps off. I was turning and twisting them, until I noticed the grooves on the caps. You are supposed to 'pinch' the caps off! -_-|||

Presenting to you my first nail art! XD The pens are really easy to work with. They are neither too thick nor thin, so you have a good grip on them. The tips are sharp enough for some decent nail art... So thumbs up!!! Yay to cooler nails! :DDD

The last item's Stila's All Over Shimmer Duo in Kitten. I got this from Michelle's beauty.com spree, along with some Clarisonic brush heads. There was a 20% discount (Yes, I do get my stuff only when there are discounts. Uhhh... Okay, I get them too, when there aren't any. But more so when there are *THUMBS UP*.). :D

Kitten's Stila's most popular shade and I have been wanting it for quite some time. But it isn't cheap, so when I saw this duo and the fact that there was a discount... Well, you know what happened. ;)

I'm not exactly impressed with this product (Charlene, what were you expecting? GOLD?!?). But oh well, first impressions. I do need to play with this a little more to pass a more impartial judgment.

And before I end my crazy blogging frenzy, this is a scan from non-no magazine. I have been trying to create the blusher-only-on-the-apples look. But somehow, instead of coming across as cute or innocent, I end up looking stupid. SIGH!

Oh well, practice makes perfect!

I'm off to bed now. Tomorrow marks the end of the 3rd week of my summer vacay. How fast is that?!?

HAUL: My First Belif Haul!

This entry is titled as such because I'm very certain that many more Belif hauls will come in due time. :DDD Belif hails from the land of flawless beauty, a.k.a Korea. The brand, which hit our shores in late February, is built upon 5 truths:

True Ingredients: Only carefully selected ingredients are used. True, rare and natural herbs.
True Formula: Belif uses Napier's traditional herbal processing methods proven for preserving efficacy of the herbs.
True Benefit: Belif places their emphasis on the quality of product instead of fanciful packaging.
True Safety: No synthetic preservatives, dyes, fragrances, mineral oil and ingredients of animal origins are used.
True Timelessness: The formulae used are relevant now and for a long time to come.

Belif is sitting in the basement of Wisma Atria, where Holika Holika used to be (Where did Holika Holika go?!? ):). I passed by the store a gazillion times (Orchard is really my second home.) and was attracted to the drawings of their products like a bear to honey. Also, it's pretty difficult to miss the store since there's an arch of purple balloons right in front of it. Haha.

A couple of weeks back, Chantana tweeted about the Aqua Bomb and how after 3 days of application, her face didn't have the tight feeling (I think.) and that piqued my interest because I was like Sahara Desert in person *rolls eyes*.

I popped by the store one day and was attended to the most patient salesgirl ever. Her product knowledge was way incredible! She could tell me about the ingredients and their benefits in the products which I inquired, in details! I didn't get anything that day but before I left, she passed me a sample of the Aqua Bomb.

I have been spamming Laneíge's Sleeping Pack for the past few nights and that has helped to heal my skin quite a lot. Sadly, after I rinsed my face in the morning, my skin would start to feel tight again.

Last night, I decided to use my sample of the Aqua Bomb. It brought immediate relief to my skin and kept my skin hydrated the entire night, much like the Laneíge one. BUT BUT BUT the thing is, after I rinsed my face this morning, my skin didn't feel tight at all! Also, Chantana's timely review on it pretty much cemented the Aqua Bomb on my to-buy list (Or rather, MUST-by list.) for today!

So... TADAHHH!!! Here's my loot! Hahaha. I know I went a little nutty but you know... Sets are like sooo much cheaper in the long run, if you do the Math (Not that I need any more masks. But I mean, like, a girl can never have enough masks! *does a hair flick*)!

And here are the products, out of their boxes, basking in my love!!! Hahaha.

Ever since I read the brochure, the Hungarian Water Essence has been on my mind and I knew that if I bought the Aqua Bomb, I would certainly buy this as well. I mean, this was formulated with the Hungarian water used by the Hungarian Queen Elizabeth! The Hungarian Queen herself!!!

You know how some people are suckers for packaging... Well, I'm not like that because I'm gonna to throw them all when I'm done with the products (I don't have the space!!!). BUT I'm a total sucker for products used by ___(insert some famous person's name)___!!! Hahaha!

I'm sooo using this tonight! I am not a queen but I can sure feel like one! Haha!

The First Aid - Anti-Hangover Soothing Mask came in a set with The True Cream - Aqua Bomb. This contains Chamomile, to calm sensitive and stressed skin, and Xylitol soothing capsules, that help to prevent skin woes.

It's not like I need any more masks. Goodness, I have more than enough to last me comfortably for the next two years. But it really is cheaper purchasing the sets.

Last but certainly not the least, The True Cream - Aqua Bomb!!! There are two 'bombs' actually, this one and the Moisturizing Bomb. The former is meant for oily/ combination skin and the latter, for dry/ combination. Since my face is usually oily, I thought I get the former so that it wouldn't be too rich for me once my skin heals completely from the drought. Besides, I think it's actually moisturizing enough for my current skin condition.

Oh yes! I was served by the same salesgirl again (I do wish I know her name so I can leave a feedback or something!)! Anyway, I signed up for the membership and was passed an envelope of samples and a $5 voucher. (:

I activated my account by logging in when I came back, so this means that I'm entitled to a gift set when I go back to the store with my mailer, printed. It's a tad troublesome because I wish I could just collect it on the spot. But I guess, it's alright since I'm always at Orchard anyway. Haha.

Right now, if you spend $100 and more, you will received a 2-piece travel set. And I picked the Moisturzing Bomb so that I can try it out! :D

Alrighty, have a nice night! :DDD

I know. I'm on a video roll! Frankly, I'm really quite nervous about uploading videos but they are really fun! Heh. I film in one take so I'm really sorry about the hems and haws!

I'm not really a soft-toy kind of girl but these 2... I actually wanted them. Anyway, they were clamouring to wear my geeky spects.

Okay, they are just reasons for me to camwhore. Seriously, I SWEAR it's Holika Holika's Petit BB Cream's fault!

Heh. Heh. Okay, I'm sorry for the spam of narcissistic photos!

Hey Muffins!

So finally, FINALLY! After so many tweets about making a video... Here's one!!!

If you have watched it, I'm really sorry that I just wasted 5 minutes of your life. I'll work on my videos, like talk about my favourites for instance! I haven't done a 'favourites' anything since gawd-knows-when! But I do tweet about my favourites so you can check there. :D

This pair of shoes stole $40 from me. And then, $60. BIG SIGH.

And oh yes! I forgot to mention that this bag came with the Jay Gee card. I actually like it quite a bit. But oh whee! Another black bag to add to my stash of black bags.

Don't you just LOVE this blazer?!? GAHHH! The plaid skirt is from ASOS and I love it tons! But it's too small for my child-bearing hips. Stupid hips!

Anyway, I'm BEGGING you, please go check out Holika Holika's Petit B.B. Cream (Moisture) (Read about it here!)!!! I'm loving it so much that I refuse to clean it off (I usually take my night showers around 5pm but here I am, with my face still prettily done up and wearing geeky spects.)! Please do! But please don't buy them out! Haha! I'm going to drop by tomorrow anyway, to take advantage of the GSS promotion and get 2 more tubes! Or should I get 3...? Mmmhmmm...

I hardly post photos of myself because well, I have issues with the way I look. But I swear the B.B. cream's magical! I look so nice!!! I must have taken more than 20 photos of myself (And am currently announcing it, shamelessly, to all and sundry. Rrrright.).

I got myself a pair of geeky spects from 77th Street for $15. Influence from the sister (All 3 Lee kids are proud to embrace our geeky sides *nods seriously*.).

And oh yes! The sister is heading to UK tomorrow morning with her besties (Meet the Bs; Bala and Beatrice.). She's going to be blogging about the trip and I think they are going to do some sort of a documentary. If you like the weird and funny, do check out her blog here! :DDD

Lots of love,
Charlene J. Lee

REVIEW: Hada Labo's Hydrating Care

Email |
|
By charlenejudith · January 6, 2012 · 0 Comments · 148 Views

I was introduced to Hada Labo back in July last year and since then, I have been quite intrigued by their products. My cousin's constant raves of the Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion only served to increase the intensity of my curiosity!

However, their products are really pricey and somehow, I have this strange idea that too much hydration is going to lead to a massive explosion of blackheads (Please take note that this is NOT proven. It's just this strange idea that I have. Oily skin can be due to dehydration of the skin.).

When Watsons stocked up on the travel sets again, I just HAD to purchase it (Okay, expenditure justified. Heh.). This set is going at $15.90 and is only available at certain Watsons outlets (Check out the outlets at Changi City Point, Far East Plaza and Ngee Ann City!)

The travel set houses 4 of the products from Hada Labo's Hydrating Care range. They are

Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Make-up Remover (30ml)
Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Wash (20g)
Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion (20ml)
Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Milk (20ml).

All the products are free from the clutches of fragrances, mineral oils and colorants! Yay! :D

The Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Make-up Remover (30ml) is a water-based makeup remover that effectively removes your makeup and hydrates your skin at the same time. It is to be used on dry skin (Make sure your hands are dry too!), with gentle circular motions.

The makeup remover takes the form of a transparent liquid, which is slightly thicker than water. It smells a little like alcohol to me.

Starting from the left, they are

Holika Holika's Petit BB (Moisture)
K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner Waterproof in Super Black
NYX's Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk
Etude House's Lash Designing Vitcara Mascara
Canmake's Powder Cheeks in PW18
Topshop's Blush in Head Over Heels
Etude House's lipstick
Etude House's lipstick
L'Oreal Paris' Glam Shine 6H in V5 Iredsistible.

On dry skin, with dry hands!

Gentle circular motions!

And rinse well with water! As seen in the photo, there are faint marks left from K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner Waterproof in Super Black and L'Oreal Paris' Glam Shine 6H in V5 Iredsistible (Please ignore the strap marks on my arm!). Other than that, it's all clear!

I was rather disappointed by the Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Make-up Remover because the Hydrating Cleansing Oil worked so much better! The latter removed every single trace of makeup whereas for this, there would still be some eyeliner and mascara left. :\

I wouldn't say that the remover hydrated my skin but it certainly did not leave any greasy or tight feeling after use, as promised by Hada Labo. (:

The Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Wash (20g) gently cleanses and hydrates the skin. It removes impurities effectively, whilst preserving the skin's natural moisture. It is to be lathered with water, before cleaning your face with gentle circular motions.

The cleanser comes out as a white cream-like substance and lathers easily with water. Its scent is a tad funky and it's pretty strong.

It isn't as hydrating as I thought it would but but it cleans the face without leaving my skin feeling too clean and too tight. However, I don't particularly like the scent. :\

The Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion (20ml) seems to be the Japanese equivalent of a toner. It hydrates and locks in moisture, keeping the skin soft and supple. It is to be patted on the skin until it is thoroughly absorbed.

The lotion is a transparent liquid, which density is between the water's and the makeup remover's densities. It smells less intense than the cleanser and is more pleasant.

As promised, the lotion does a splendid job in hydrating the skin! It takes a little longer to get absorbed into the skin (As compared with other toners.), but it's totally worth it! Also, the patting motions are pretty fun! :D

My cousin uses only the lotion to hydrate his skin and that's all!

The Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Milk (20ml) provides deep hydration with its high Super Hyaluronic Acid concentration. It keeps the skin baby smooth, radiant and well hydrated! Just like the lotion, it is to be applied with gentle patting motions.

The milk comes out in an opaque white liquid. It's a little thicker than the lotion and smells like the lotion but a little more pleasant (Haha. It's really difficult to describe the scent.).

The milk complements the lotion perfectly to ensure that I wake up to skin that's moisturized wonderfully! My skin feels soft and smooth and I noticed that it's a lot more radiant. Also, my makeup goes on smoother too! (: Just today (Well, it's actually yesterday, seeing that it's the 6th now. EEPS! Time is passing way too fast!), the sister commented on how smooth my skin looked! :DDD

In summary, I really love the lotion and the milk and these will be the two products which I will highly recommend to anyone! I don't particularly like the scents but I do like the fact that these products are free of fragrances! So oh wells. But anyway, the scents don't linger! :D

As for the makeup remover and the cleanser, I think there are more effective ones out there. For the makeup remover, Hada Labo's Hydrating Cleansing Oil is definitely a stronger contender. And for an even gentler cleanser, Cetaphil would be a good brand to look into. (:

Alrighty. It's bedtime now. Thanks for reading! :D

REVIEW: Hada Labo's Hydrating Cleansing Oil

Email |

By charlenejudith · November 5, 2011 · 4 Comments · 76 Views

Drawn to Hada Labo's skincare philosophy of being 'Perfect X Simple', it was difficult not to be intrigued by its Hydrating Cleansing Oil, though I usually eschew oil-based products. Thank you The Sample Store for sending me a bottle to review! :DDD

Hada Labo's latest baby, the Hydrating Cleansing Oil contains high purity olive oil and of course, their signature Super Hyaluronic Acid. It contains no fragrances, colourings, alcohols and mineral oils. Perfect for people with sensitive skin like me! :D

This little potion is touted as a '1-step makeup remover', erasing all traces of makeup, including waterproof eyeliners and mascaras! And because it's water-soluble, it does it without leaving any greasy feeling!

Sounds good, aye? Let's put it to the test on different types of makeup!

On my arm, starting from the left, they are

Holika Holika's Petit BB (Moisture)
K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner Waterproof in Brown
Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Bourbon
Topshop's Blush in Head Over Heels
Shiseido's Perfect Rouge in RD 305
L'Oreal Paris' Glam Shine 6H in V5 Iredsistible.

A makeup for each part of the face!

The Hydrating Cleansing Oil is to be used on dry skin. So do make sure your hands are dry and don't wet your face! I take just one pump of the oil and it's more than sufficient for my entire face.

There's a very faint olive oil smell, which is neither pungent nor pleasant. Haha. It's just a smell that's... Well, just there. Haha. It doesn't stay on the skin anyway, so it's nothing to be bothered by. I massage it onto my face gently and then, rinse it off with water!

Et voilà! Not a single trace is left!!! The K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner Waterproof in Brown took a little longer to be removed, as compared with the rest, but I didn't have to rub at it harder or anything like that. It just took a little longer to go away, that's all.

Also, after washing the oil off, it didn't leave my face feeling taut! THUMBS UP! The oil cleansers which I had used previously left me feeling greasy but not this one! Not in the least bit! TWO THUMBS UP!

As like all oil cleansers, the Hydrating Cleansing Oil removes makeup a lot faster than water-based cleansers. But the factors which won me over were that it didn't leave any greasing feeling and it contains no fragrances, colourings, alcohols and mineral oils. Now that I am more knowledgeable about beauty products, I'm more conscious of the ingredients that go into them. (:

The Hada Labo Hydrating Cleansing Oil, $20.90, is available exclusively at Watsons. Do check out Hada Labo's Facebook page here for their latest news!

ATM: What's happening?!?

Hey Muffins!

I'm so terribly sorry that I have been absent online. I'm so swamped with school work, it's insane. But oh wells. I'm left with half a semester so yay! :DDD

Haha. Yes, I started my countdown from week 1! Heh.

Anyway, here's a sneak peak of the new additions in my beauty life! *bursts into a fit of giggles*

In a quest to find a foundation that doesn't just cover but takes care of my flaws as well, I took the plunge and bought the Bare Minerals Get Started Complexion kit. This cost me a whopping $100 but I really wanted to explore mineral makeup. Unfortunately, this didn't treat me too nicely. I'm not sure if it's because I have been dealing with late nights but I'll play with it more before I pass my verdict.

I have been going gaga over Vichy products! Vichy's Aera Mineral BB and Norma Teint had been on my 'wanted' (Lol!) list for the longest time. But they are so pricey!!! *sniffs* The former costs $49 at Watsons and the latter, $39. If I remember them right. And these little darlings are what I have been playing with!!! *beams*

So far, I'm absolutely loving the Aera Mineral BB, though I think the colour is a tad too light. But it sure belongs with my Missha and Holika Holika B.B. creams (Though I have been shying away from them, in a bid to be better to my skin. Apparently, B.B. creams clog pores. :\ They haven't been giving me any problems but I want to be on the safe side. I am still using them though. Just less often.). No, wait. In fact, it is even better! Since it's hypoallergenic, non-pore clogging and free of fragrance and paraben!

As for the Norma Teint, I got mine in 03 Ivory. There are 4 shades available in Singapore and only 01 has pink undertones. I found mine a little too yellow for me, but 01 was way too light. The oil control isn't very existent to me. At the end of the day, I'm still left with a shiny face. It's a little disappointing but I like how it goes on smooth and matte. But this is achievable with the Aera Mineral BB. But but (Heh. I really need to do something about my English.) I like it that this will help treat imperfections.

Okay, I just checked the ingredients list. If you're trying to decide which to get, I say the Aera Mineral BB. The Norma Teint contains parabens and fragrance! :\

Steam cream!!! Say hello to Afternoon! Recently, more designs were released and there are MORE coming! Have you seen the Disney-themed ones?!? Click here!!! I love, love, love the Mickey, Winnie and Alice ones!!! Gahhhhhhh! They are like Pokémon and you HAVE, HAVE, HAVE to catch them all. Haha! XD

Lancôme's Génifique and Visionnaire came in the mail yesterday! *squeals* These are gifts from the Lancôme's Visionnaire Launch Party. Thanks Kristen Juliet for everything again! Lots of love. (:

Last, but not least, Laneíge's Essential Care Trial Set (Light)! *giggles* I know! So many goodies! They are definitely keeping my happiness index up! I use the Pore Clear Wash Off Pack sporadically and I like it quite a bit. So when I was asked if I wanted to review this, I sure as hell did not hesitate! I started using it last night, and just like the Vichy's Normaderm entry, I will be keeping a 'diary' as well. (:

Alrighty, that's it from me for now! I have got a midterm coming up so wish me luck!

Have a fab weekend, Muffins! :D

SWATCHES: L'Oreal Paris' Limited Edition Summer Shades

Email |

By charlenejudith · July 21, 2011 · 0 Comments · 200 Views

Earlier this month, I received a bag from L'Oreal Paris Cosmetics! Inside the bag housed their Limited Edition Summer Shades for the Open Eyes Pro palettes and a tube of their Glam Shine 6H. These darlings are only available for the month of July!

This is the Open Eyes Pro in Fanatic Olive.

This will be a favourite among working ladies who want a classy and sophisticated look. Right beneath the applicator is a mirror for on-the-go makeup application.

Instructions are printed behind the palette just in case you need some nudges on the makeup application.

The Open Eyes Pro series 'uses a wet process technology to compress the color pigments in order to give high color pay off on your eyelids.'

The above swatches are done without the use of a primer. The eyeshadows are light and blend easily. The first shade is glittery while the others have a satin finish.

This is the Open Eyes Pro in Pink Maniac.

This palette is perfect for those who want a sweet and girly look. (:

Just like Fanatic Olive, the first shade contains chunky glitters while the others are smooth and contain discrete shimmers.

This is Glam Shine 6H in V5 Iredsistible.

It comes with a flat applicator, quite unlike the other lipglosses which I own.

The Glam Shine 6H series 'has a new improved technology that gives your lips 6 hours of intense shine with ultimate comfort and non-stickiness.'

Indeed, the lipgloss is not Stila-Lip-Glaze sticky! I had quite a fun time applying it actually, with the unique applicator (Okay, unique to me. And I know, cheap thrill.).

It smells like some lipglosses which I used to own, but I can't remember which at the moment. But anyway, it's a delicious scent alright. :D

And I decided to camwhore a little with the lipgloss yesterday. Red always makes one feel so pretty!

I had on only Holika Holika's Petit BBs SPF30 PA++ (Moisture)Bourjois' ASOS Exclusive Limited Edition Vintage Blusher Peach Glow, Canmake's Highlighter (Baby Beige 05) and Maybelline's Dream Matte Powder (Ivory). I did my brows too with an Etude House brow palette.

I have been skipping eye makeup because I think one of them is en route to infection. :\
